O GOD MY STRENGTH! I WILL SING YOUR PRAISES, FOR YOU ARE MY PLACE OF SAFETY. (Psalm 59:9)

Prayer - What is it to me? Why do I need it? What does it require of me? What are my rewards for praying?

First of all, prayer to me means communicating with God whenever and wherever I am. I need a power source to motive me when I cannot do it myself. So many times I have felt that I have "hit a stone wall" and can see no way out of my dilemma. Since I am a very "in control" person, I become very frustrated that I cannot handle the situation. When I find myself completely incapable of resolving my problem, I find that I am required to surrender completely to God and let him resolve the issue. I am always amazed that I get my problem resolution in unexpected ways. Many times I find that the way I would have resolved the problem is the absolute worst way to handle the situation.

Prayer requires me to completely surrender to a greater being. It requires me to "play second fiddle" to God and let him direct me when I am unable to find my way.

Because I use prayer in my life, I am rewarded with a power source greater than myself, that I do not have to carry the whole burden of life's problems alone. I end up with a reward of joy and a hope for a better future.

                                    I Surrender All

                              All to Jesus I surrender;
                              All to Him I freely give;
                              I will ever love and trust Him,
                              In His presence daily live.

                                    Refrain
                                    I surrender all,
                                    I surrender all;
                                    All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
                                    I surrender all.

                               All to Jesus I surrender;
                               Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
                               Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
                               Truly know that Thou art mine.

                               All to Jesus I surrender;
                               Lord, I give myself to Thee;
                               Fill me with Thy love and power;
                               Let Thy blessing fall on me.
