Wednesday, March 7

Going a little farther, He fell to the ground and prayed that if possible
the hour might pass from Him. “Abba, Father,” He said, “everything is
possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what
you will.”  (Mark 14: 35-36)

         COAT

I owned a sin so grievous
It was hard to bare
Carrying my burden
A coat that I would wear

Jesus called me from His cross
Pleaded for this coat of pain
So I pealed it off, put it down
Life would never be the same

As I turned to walk away
I glanced back at the cross
I couldn’t leave my coat behind
There was this sense of loss

Something deep inside me
Needed this coat of pain
And even if I loaned it
I’d take it back again

I needed faith I’d not be cold
That I’d have a cloak of new
One day I’ll leave it there for good
And repentance will ring true

It is possible for the alcoholic or drug addict with the help of God—on
one’s own it is very difficult, but with God holding your hand all things
are possible.
